Summary
Live Video Feedback is a desktop application that helps you record exercise videos using your phone as a wireless camera. Your videos, exercises, and personal data stay on your computer. We do not store, access, or transmit your video content.
What Data Stays on Your Computer
- Videos you record are saved locally on your computer. They are never uploaded to our servers or any cloud service.
- Exercise names and settings are stored in a local database on your device.
- Trimmed and exported clips are saved to a folder you choose on your computer.
We have no access to any of this data. If you uninstall the app, your videos remain on your computer in the app's data folder.
Camera Access
When you scan the QR code on your phone, the web page at livevideofeedback.app/connect requests access to your phone's camera. This camera stream is sent directly from your phone to the desktop app using WebRTC, a peer-to-peer protocol. The video stream travels directly between your devices, not through our server.
Our server only handles the initial connection handshake (signaling) to help your phone and computer find each other. Once connected, the server is no longer involved in the video stream. The connection uses Google STUN servers for NAT traversal, which see your devices' IP addresses but no video data. The video stream itself is encrypted with DTLS-SRTP, enforced by the browser.
What We Collect
Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog to understand how the app and website are used and to detect errors. Analytics in the desktop app are off by default and can be enabled in Settings. PostHog collects:
- Page views and feature usage (anonymized)
- Error reports with technical details (stack traces, browser info)
- Session recordings on the website (mouse movements, clicks) to help us improve the experience
PostHog does not have access to your videos, exercises, or local files.
Payment Information (Polar)
Purchases are processed by Polar, our payment provider. When you purchase a license, Polar collects your name, email, and payment details. We receive your name and email to activate your license. We do not see or store your credit card information.
License Activation
When you activate your license key, the app contacts Polar's server to verify the key is valid. This sends your license key and a device label (e.g. "Live Video Feedback Desktop"). No personal data, videos, or exercise information is transmitted during activation.

Cookies
Our website uses first-party cookies for analytics (PostHog) and session management (Laravel). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. When you first visit, a cookie consent banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. If you decline, we use anonymous server-side hashing to count visits without storing anything on your device. Your choice does not affect the desktop app.
Data Retention
- Local data (videos, exercises): Retained on your device until you delete it. We have no access.
- Analytics data: Retained by PostHog per their retention policy.
- Payment records: Retained by Polar as required for tax and legal obligations.
- Signaling sessions: Expire after 15 minutes and are automatically deleted from our server.
Your Rights
You can:
- Delete your local data at any time by removing the app's data folder
- Request deletion of your Polar account and payment data by contacting Polar support
- Decline analytics cookies via the website consent banner, or disable telemetry in the desktop app's Settings
- Contact us to request information about any data we hold about you
Children
Live Video Feedback is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Significant changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
